Unvailing of statue to Dickie Bird

A full size bronze statue of Dickie by Barnsley sculptor Graham Ibbeson, will be unveiled at the rear of St Mary’s Garden in Barnsley.
This is near to where Dickie lived as a child.
‘Dickie’, as he is universally known throughout the world, was acknowledged to be the world’s best umpire and this status will be acknowledged by the unveiling.
The statue will be unveiled in his honour, at 12 noon 30th June.
People are welcome to come along and support Dickie in what promises to be a proud and memorable occassion
